Position Summary

Salary Range: 100-115K per year

 

The HRBP West must be located in California.

 

The Human Resources Business Partner focuses on building key relationships with our hospitals and providing Human Resource advice.  Travels to regional hospitals to understand business needs and challenges, working closely with Regional Operations to drive an engaged and knowledgeable practice management function. This role focuses on employee relations, policy creation and interpretation, HR compliance, performance, and employee development.  Manages and fosters the relationship and communication with existing hospitals and ensuring seamless onboarding for newly acquired clinics.  The Human Resources Business Partner provides expert and objective advice, coaching, and counsel to our hospital Practice Management and Operations team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Partners with managers to resolve business issues including employee development and counseling, compensation, communication and compliance of employment regulations, and training
  • Serves as first point of contact for managers with employee relations issues, utilizing knowledge of employment law and best practices to expediently resolve issues
  • Works with Managers on administering disciplinary procedures and employee documentation, including developing performance improvement plans and executing corrective action, providing counseling, performance documentation and problem resolution.  
  • Facilitates the human resources relationship with new hospital acquisitions, coordinates logistics, and communicates onboarding resource information
  • Manages hospital closures, all employee pay requirements, terminations, and payroll facilitation in conjunction with Regional Operations
  • Trains managers on Human Resources related expectations, develops and implements training materials and training tools
  • Assists with the development and facilitation of training and toolkits for management and employee population, including the coordination of LMS courses, manager training, and facilitated and recorded webinars
  • Creates, reviews, and interprets policies and procedures
  • Meets and exceeds expectations in terms of relationship management, service orientation, communication, timeliness, quality of projects and deliverables, and advice provided
  • Manages compliance and communication of employment regulations
  • Provides trip and clinic recaps, creates and evaluates other reporting as needed
  • Reviews procedures and processes and champions methods for improvement and facilitates implementation
  • Performs other duties as assigned, including special projects

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field highly preferred

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of previous field business partnership experience, with demonstrated emphasis and success in employee relations and relationship building
  • Strong working knowledge of employment law
  • Experienced in training creation and delivery
  • Previous experience working with multiple states and multiple dispersed locations preferred. Strong knowledge of labor and related laws for defined market
  • Multi -unit experience, Veterinary industry or related industry experience is a plus
  • Exceptional oral, written, and presentation communication skills are a must, including the ability to build relationships, engage staff, and persuade/train clinic management
  • Must be proven self-starter with the skill to achieve results autonomously with minimal supervision
  • Must be able to respond to manager questions in a pleasant, timely, and easy-to-understand manner and demonstrate exceptional customer service skills. Possesses a strong ability to influence the actions of others. 
  • Good multi-tasking and time management skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines and pivot based upon hospital needs and priorities
  • Proactive mindset to solve problems and research solutions, facilitates new ideas

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to regularly travel within a market, via motor vehicle or plane
  • Must be able to stand, sit, and move within a clinic as well as remain in a stationary position when in their home- based office
  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, supplies, and office machinery.
  • The person in this position frequently communicates with managers at remote locations in person, as well as via email and phone. Must be able to exchange clear, accurate information in these situations.
  • Occasionally moves equipment and supplies weighing up to 15 pounds
  • The person in this position frequently communicates and collaborates with clinic personnel and co-workers
  • Frequent keyboarding/use of computer for data entry

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Adept and experienced in Payroll/HRIS systems
  • Strong presentation skills
