Position Summary

This role is located in Texas.

The Clinical Development Specialist implements support team training programs at Blue River PetCare practices.  The Clinical Development Specialist evaluates team members, supports practice workflow /efficiency, provides skills-based training, and transitions training programs for administration by practice leaders.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Administer training programs for support teams (Veterinary Technicians, Veterinary Assistants, Customer Service Representatives, and other non-veterinarian team members), establish expectations and progress goals with practices, train technical skills, improve practice workflow and efficiency, and demonstrate measurable improvements.  Responsibilities include:
    •  Introduce of training programs  
    • Virtual/in-person practice support
    • Provide participant accountability
    • Transition role to practice once program is well-established
  • Identify skill/operational improvement areas alongside Practice Managers, Medical Directors, and Field Operations teams
  • Help practices build and maintain a healthy workplace culture

Education Requirements

  • AVMA-Accredited Veterinary Technician program graduate preferred
  • Maintain high level of clinical knowledge via regular Continuing Education

Basic Qualifications

  • Passion for teaching, skill development, and professional growth for support team members and BRP practices
  • Active Veterinary Technician credential in good standing (duration 2+ years) in minimum one state required
  • Minimum five years of clinical veterinary practice experience, leadership role strongly preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills
  • Positive attitude, helpful, professional, detail oriented, and organized
  • Strong veterinary medicine technical knowledge from support team perspective
  • Change implementation and conflict management proficiency
  • General understanding of financial metrics, efficiency, and decision-making within veterinary practices preferred
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks/projects in a timely manner required

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to travel to clinics as needed, up to 75%
  • Must be licensed and able to operate motor vehicle and travel via automobile/air
  • Position requires stationary sitting and to be on feet for substantial periods of time
  • Frequent communication with practice management teams, practice teams, and corporate office via email/phone. Ability to exchange clear, accurate data in these situations required.
  • Occasionally move equipment and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Frequent keyboarding/use of computer

Technical Skills:

  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Veterinary equipment usage and maintenance knowledge
  • PIMS Software experience preferred
