Position Summary

The Director of Talent Acquisition plays a pivotal role in driving the recruitment strategies for both Field Operations and student-focused initiatives within Blue River PetCare. This position oversees the entire recruitment lifecycle, ensuring the company hires and retains the best veterinary talent while also attracting high-quality candidates through campus initiatives. The Director will lead and manage the Talent Acquisition team responsible for hospital veterinary recruiting and the Campus Recruitment team responsible for student-focused programs and brand promotion.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive talent acquisition strategies to support the hiring needs of Field Operations and campus recruitment initiatives.
  • Serve as the primary contact for collaborating with Field Operations to align recruitment efforts with business needs.
  • Oversee all aspects of hospital veterinary recruiting, including sourcing, screening, interviewing, offer negotiation.
  • Oversee campus initiatives, including fostering relationships with veterinary schools and student organizations.
  • Oversee the Campus Recruiting team representing Blue River PetCare as a brand ambassador at career fairs, conferences, and related events to promote the organization and attract prospective candidates.
  • Identify and implement innovative recruitment practices and technologies to enhance recruitment effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Monitor market trends and industry best practices to ensure proactive recruitment efforts and maintain a competitive edge in talent acquisition.
  • Maintain accurate records, metrics, and reporting mechanisms to track recruitment activities and outcomes.
  • Provide leadership, direction, and mentorship to the Talent Acquisition and Campus Recruitment teams, fostering a high-performance culture and continuous development of team members.

Education Requirements

  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree; or requisite experience

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of talent acquisition leadership experience managing recruitment teams in the veterinary medicine industry.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in talent acquisition, with a focus on both high-volume recruitment and campus initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience managing and leading recruitment teams, including setting strategic direction, establishing performance metrics, and providing coaching and development.
  • Strong knowledge of recruitment best practices, including sourcing techniques, candidate assessment methods, and employment branding strategies.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to effectively engage with internal stakeholders, external partners, and candidates at all levels.
  • Proven track record of driving results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to anticipate future talent needs and develop proactive recruitment strategies to address them.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 75% of the time.
  • This position frequently communicates with managers and veterinarians at remote locations using email and phone. Must be able to exchange clear, accurate information in these situations.
  • Frequent keyboarding/use of computer for data entry.
  • This position frequently communicates and collaborates with co-workers in the office.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency using the Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Proficiency in utilizing ATS platforms to manage the recruitment process efficiently, including job posting, candidate sourcing, applicant screening, interview scheduling, and reporting.
  • Familiarity with recruitment marketing tools and techniques to enhance employer branding, attract passive candidates, and engage with talent pools effectively.
  • Ability to analyze recruitment data, metrics, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate the effectiveness of talent acquisition strategies, identify areas for improvement, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Experience in managing relationships with external recruitment agencies, vendors, and service providers to support talent acquisition efforts, negotiate contracts, and optimize recruitment resources.
  • Awareness of employment laws, regulations, and compliance requirements related to recruitment and hiring processes, ensuring adherence to legal standards and company policies.
  • Knowledge of various sourcing techniques, including social media recruiting, job boards, professional networking platforms, and employee referrals, to identify and attract top talent.
